A Texas native, Dr. Herod grew up in Harlingen, made his way to Kingsville for his undergrad, then to Baylor College of Dentistry for his dental degree. For 6 years after graduation, Dr. Herod practiced further north in Tyler, but the pull to be near family and a community he loves brought him to San Antonio. Always a student at heart, Dr. Herod has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education seminars and courses since starting his first private practice in 2005. He has pursued his strong interest in restorative services, dental implants, and cosmetic dentistry, including using veneers and teeth whitening to brighten and rejuvenate smiles.
Growing up watching his parents make a positive difference in their patients’ lives was not only the driving force behind choosing to practice dentistry – but also how he practices. Great communicators, they taught him early the value of explaining, in plain language, the many different options available to solve a wide variety of dental concerns. Dr. Luis Galvan has dedicated his life to the field of dentistry. Born in the bustling heart of Mexico City, dentistry was more than just a career choice for him; it was a family tradition. Both of his parents were esteemed dentists, and it seemed almost inevitable that he would follow in their footsteps.
Dr. Galvan’s educational journey began at UniTec University, where he pursued his passion for dentistry with unwavering dedication. His commitment to excellence and the pursuit of knowledge allowed him to graduate at the top of his class, a testament to his innate talent and hard work.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. G’s thirst for knowledge led him to an Advanced General Practice Residency program in San Antonio. The experience and expertise he gained during this period would become the foundation for his remarkable career in dentistry.
Upon returning to his beloved Mexico City in 1994, Dr. Galvan wasted no time in establishing his practice. His clinical acumen and dedication to his craft quickly earned him recognition and respect in the dental community. As an indication of his commitment to education, he was appointed to the faculty of UniTec Dental School early in his dental career, where he could pass on his knowledge to the next generation of aspiring dentists.
Dr. Galvan is a clinician with a wide array of interests, and his passion for innovation led him to expand his practice to three different locations. Additionally, he established a commercial dental laboratory, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to providing top-notch dental services. His expertise in the field of dental implants is particularly noteworthy, as he has placed over 10,000 implants, becoming a recognized authority in this area.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Galvan is a devoted family man. He shares his life with a loving wife and is a proud father of a son and two daughters, cherishing the time spent with his family.
